The United States Government’s recently announced Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative does not impact travel requirements between the US and its territories, including the United States Virgin Islands.

“The US Virgin Islands is pleased to maintain its welcoming position as America’s Caribbean,” stated Commissioner of Tourism, Pamela Richards. “We are committed to ensuring that visits to the Territory’s islands of St Croix, St John and St Thomas are as comfortable, pleasant and secure as possible for our guests.”

A person currently may travel to and from the United States to the US Virgin Islands without a passport or other document, but under proposed regulations, would be required to have this documentation in order to re-enter the US Virgin Islands from the British Virgin Islands or another country.

Pavilions and Pools is located on St. Thomas’ East End, one mile west of Red Hook (where the ferry departs for St. John and the British Virgin Islands) and directly adjacent to Sapphire Bay. We are 9 miles from Cyril E. King Airport and 7 miles from downtown Charlotte Amalie. (Just far enough from town to be out of the fray when the multitudes from the cruise ships are in.) The office has cruise ship schedules to inform you which are the least crowded days to shop, and when to sail or enjoy to one of our beaches.

While guests of Pavilions and Pools can enjoy a completely private swim and a sun bath, they are also surrounded by some of the most magnificent beaches that fringe the island. Beautiful Sapphire Bay is just a 5 minute walk from the hotel and offers spectacular snorkeling. Arrangements can be made for island tours, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, wind surfing, sailing, parasailing, golf, and tennis.

St. Thomas has duty-free items such as china, crystal, linens, perfumes, jewelry, liquors, cameras, and watches. Delightful shops offer world-wide selections of your favorite items. It is one of the reasons the cruise ships stop here! The downtown shopping area is just 20 minutes from Pavilions and Pools.

The Fish Pond Café at Pavilions and Pools offers cocktails and dining Wednesday through Sunday evenings beginning at 5:00 PM. Check our Restaurant & Bar link to see some of the selections and inquire at the Front Desk for the nightly menu and any scheduling changes. We are happy to assist you with information about restaurants on St. Thomas and St. John as well as local take-out and delivery options. If you'd like to cook your own meals and eat in, we can direct you to nearby food markets and specialty stores.

All the major rental car companies, as well as smaller operators, can provide airport drop off and pick up services. We can also arrange for round-trip airport transfers, if you prefer not driving immediately after your arrival. Taxis are easily accessible; therefore renting a car is not absolutely necessary.

Light, informal summer clothes are perfect for St. Thomas’ year-round sunny weather. The average temperature is 82° Fahrenheit. In your Pavilion, clothing is optional, but for public areas, we request that you wear at least a bathing suit. In town, you will find that shorts and sandals are most comfortable. Dining is usually informal, although a few restaurants require a coat or tie. In the evenings, you may want to bring along a light sweater.
