A few words of advice while visiting in the Virgin Islands. Native West Indians are far more polite than some of the rest of the inhabitants of this great globe. Therefore it is smart to open any conversation with whomever you meet by making a little light conversation before launching into the “chase.” (In other words not, “How much?”) A simple “Good Morning!” or “Good Day!” or “Isn’t it nice out today?” really breaks the ice (what ice here?) and makes for a much more beneficial dialogue. Besides it’s nice to be nice!
While the weather will encourage it, wearing uncovered bathing suits in town is frowned upon. Local people consider it inappropriate.

One of the benefits of a visit to St. Thomas is that we are a “duty free” port. This means you can purchase up to $1,200.00 in goods and return home without a tax on those items. That amount is cumulative with the number of people in your party (two people = $2,400 ~ four people = $4,800 etc., and kids count) Even if you do run over the limit the tax is very low, and, ladies listen, unset gemstones are tax FREE. It is a generous bonus for your stay with us at Pavilions and Pools and likewise demonstrated by the fact that up to one gallon of liquor is also duty free if one fifth is a Virgin Islands Rum. Some liquor stores will deliver your purchase to the airport at no cost, where it will be waiting for your pick-up before boarding. Many bargains are available in china, linens, and cosmetics as well.
Property is always for sale here and lots start around $35,000 for a one half acre. In certain developments deeds are restricted to one acre. Condos are generally in the $150,000 range and up. Homes begin in the lower $200,000s on up to whew!. You can even buy your own island with a nice sandy beach in either the US or British Islands. Many reputable island realtors are ready to assist in your search for a piece of paradise.
If you take a vacation in this splendorous part of the world, you should capture the memories on film, not just to support your bragging rights to family and friends, but to be able to relive the excitement. Besides, they won’t really believe what you tell them without seeing it on film themselves!
Even if you do not preserve some of the island “flavor” on film, you should at least experience some of it for your own memories. There are all kinds of events and attractions that tell what the Caribbean and this US Virgin Island is about. Be sure to bring down a bottle to take home some of the lovely “blue” water!
With these thoughts you can’t help but have
“Another beautiful day in Paradise!”
